How to Play Match Play
Match play is a form of play where a player plays directly against an opponent in a head-to-head match. You win a hole by completing it in the fewest number of strokes, and you win a match when you are winning by more holes than remain to be played. You may concede a stroke, a hole, or even the match to each other. If your next stroke has been conceded, you are permitted to putt out.

The event is open to all 2023 Latah Creek Men’s Club Members. The event will be limited to a max of 48 players. All players are guaranteed three matches; players will be placed into a pod of four where each player plays each other once (three matches). Players will have about 6 weeks to schedule and complete their three Pod Play matches. Players that advance to Bracket Play and will have approximately 6 more weeks to complete their bracket Play. All players are responsible for covering their own green fees during each match.
Pod Play - A random draw will place each player into a pod of four players. All players are required to play each player in their pod once. After all matches are played, the two players with the best records in each pod will advance to Bracket Play. The player with the best record will go to the Gold Bracket and the player with the second best record will go to the Silver Bracket.
.
Pod Play Rules – Players that fail to play all three Pod Play matches will be
ineligible to advance to Bracket Play.
Format – All matches are to be played in the Net Match Play Format. The handicap for the day of play will be used to determine how many strokes and on what holes a given player gets on that day. Use the GHIN app or please ask the local golf professional at the course for guidance. Player with the lowest Net score on a hole is the winner of that hole. When a player leads the match by more holes than holes remaining, the match is considered won by the leading player.
Bracket Play - The winning player will advance to the next round and the losing player will be eliminated.
Tips for Match Play – We strongly encourage participants to always have clear communication with their opponents about the status of the match. Both players should also keep a scorecard.
Event Schedule – The following dates are the windows in which matches are to be completed.
Sign up deadline: 7:00 PM Sunday May 21st:
At the start of Pod Play, I will email all four players in the pod to exchange contact information. Players will have from June 1st to July 16th to schedule, play and record their three Pod Play matches. A Pod Score Sheet will be on the Men’s club Bulletin Board downstairs in the LC Club House.
Each player will play one match against each other player in their pod. The winning player will be responsible for recording the match results on the board. Best if both players confirm the reporting. Once on the board, it is final as is. Also, PLEASE POST YOUR SCORE IN THE GHIN SYSTEM AS A TOURNAMENT SCORE DAY OF THE MATCH!

At the start of Bracket Play round I will send out a group email with all bracket participants and email address. It is suggested that you reply ALL with your name so that other players can put a name with an email address.
